The KräuterBlock is a licking stone with a base of Mediterranean sea salt, to which a mixture of herbs has been added. This herb mix is specially tailored to your horse so that it gets a natural resistance to worms and worm infestations. The herbs have a certain bitterness and are rich in tannin. This creates a worm-unfriendly environment in the digestive system.
Horses naturally eat various plants that contain this bitterness and tannin, but in modern pastures we have a very limited number of grass species and almost none at all. As a result, worms have a greater chance of becoming sources of infection within a group of horses.
Did you know that infected horses excrete eggs in their feces, the larvae that emerge from them are eaten with the grass by other horses and in this way they infect each other again and again, and sometimes even year after year. In addition, worm infestations can be very dangerous for horses, young horses can suffer from growth retardation, horses can lose weight, get severe colic or diarrhea. And in severe cases the horse dies from the worm infestation, this by persistent dehydration, when they remain in diarrhea for a long time or by blood poisoning. Blood poisoning occurs when the intestines are damaged so much that bacteria can enter the blood directly.
